C-10, Loop Hook mechanism Trigger Adjustment.

A new release is shipped with the trigger set at maximum or longest trigger pull.   Looking at the front with the mechanism pointing at you they are at the top of the trigger.  Their are two set screws in the same hole.  The outside screw tightens down on the inside screw to secure the adjustment.  You must take the visible set screw out and make the adjustment with the inside screw.   All adjustments are made on the inner screw.   After you have taken the first or visible screw out of the hole,  notice the set screw hole will allow the set screw to go through the trigger and come into contact with the case wall in back of the trigger.   When the inner set screw is turned clockwise the set screw will come into contact with the case wall and will have the same effect as pulling the trigger.   You are putting the trigger closer to the shear drop fireing point the more you turn the set screw in.  Turn the inner screw clockwise until it is showing out the back of the trigger and being in contact with the case wall.  Noticeing how the set screw moves the trigger as it comes into contact with the case wall you can see that it does not take much rotation to achieve a lighter trigger.   At this point use very small increments until you reach the desired trigger.   It is a good idea to make an adjustment and test it on a slight draw of your bow.  If the trigger feels to light and has very little travel you have went to far.  After you have found your trigger put the outer set screw back in the hole and snug it against the inside screw being careful not to turn the inside screw in when doing so.  Putting back pressure against the trigger will help keep the inner set screw in place as you tighten them together.   This all might sound a bit complicated but understanding the process before trying it will make a large difference.

Adjustment notes

The Free Flight is not designed to have a hair trigger.   Light triggers are unsafe and are not needed to make a good shot.   If you think you need a hair trigger to prevent any problems you might have making a smooth shot, fix the problem.   Changing equipment or adjusting a trigger will only make a punched shot worse.   You need to feel back pressure on a trigger.

Give the maximum travel factory adjustment on a new release at least 30 shots before you do any adjusting.   This will allow the shears to set and smooth out a bit.   If you can get used to this factory adjusted trigger so much the better as it will be the safest trigger you can have and will not cause you any trouble down the road from being over adjusted.

We get many calls from shooters with older mechanisms that say the set screws have fallen out of thier trigger.   If they did not no when they fell out it must not have made any difference.   And even though the set screws are tightened down onto each other vibrations can cause them to loosen.   The set screws do not do anything else but adjust the trigger.   So if you like the maximum "safe" trigger from the factory or your present releases set screws are not touching the case wall, take them both out.   This will solve any problems that might accure with loose screws.   And as with all release mechanisms "adjusted" triggers must be re-adjusted periodically or they become unsafe do to wear or dirt.   Another reason to remove the set screws.
